Once nestled in the artsy, tree-filled foothills of Altadena, Alison Sherwood, my sister in law, never imagined calling the ocean “home.” But after the devastating fire took her house, her business, and her beloved community, she and my brother were forced to relocate—landing unexpectedly in Redondo Beach.

At first, the beach felt foreign to her. But soon, the rhythm of the ocean became a source of comfort, healing, and transformation.
